At this time of year many of your senior pupils will be considering applications for college and university.
Young people can sometimes find it difficult deciding what course they want to do and which institutions to apply to, so resources that can help them are invaluable.
You may have seen our Planit resources before, but we wanted to remind you of the ways in which these can support your pupils on their learner journey.
Whichever college or university in Scotland a pupil is interested in, they can view:
- an information page
- an introductory video for the institution
- listings of all full and part time courses on offer
- course descriptions and entry requirements
- job profiles related to courses.
There are handy filters to allow pupils to narrow down their search and if they find courses they are interested in, they can even save these to their Planit Portfolio.
If pupils need some advice on choosing and applying for courses and institutions, we have a number of helpful articles to give them some guidance, including two leaflets available for download – Going to College and Going to University. If you have pupils that are really stuck and not sure what they want to do, they can try CourseMatch, which suggests courses according to their broad career interests.
We’re sure that you and your pupils will find these resources make choosing their future career pathway easier and enjoyable.
