We have recently made some changes to our online interactive Job Seeking Skills tool, so if you haven’t already seen this section on Planit, then make sure to have a look. This tool is aimed at Scottish secondary school pupils who are ready learn about the world of work, whether it be for a part time job or in preparation for leaving school. The content and activities are designed to help young people identify their skills and strengths and have the confidence to handle the recruitment process.
As well as PDF modules that are free to download from the Job Seeking Skills section on Planit, we have added PowerPoint presentations for teachers or trainers to use with young people in the classroom.
The content, which is approved by Education Scotland, covers the following areas.
- Part 1: Get Prepared
- Part 2: Apply
- Part 3: Getting the Job
- Part 4: Starting Work
- Part 5: Working Life
- Part 6: Managing your money
There are 21 modules in total to complete. We will soon be adding Module 22 – Finance, which will focus on practical tasks such as opening a bank account and budgeting.
