At Gateway we understand the importance of working cohesively with our school partners to ensure each and every Work Placement Programme delivers a positive and meaningful experience for all participants. Throughout the month of June our school liaison team visited schools up and down the country with the purpose of meeting work placement coordinators. These meetings offered Gateway staff the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of each school’s individual requirements. The meetings proved very successful with 97% of schools taking up the offer to meet with their allocated School Liaison Officer. Coordinators were able to share detailed information about their pupils’ career aspirations, gaps in the local labour market, transport links and potential barriers facing pupils.
Following the School Requirement Meetings, we thought it would be useful to encapsulate the principles that underpinned these meetings. We have subsequently developed a School Charter that sets out what our customers can expect from the work placement team at Gateway and what information the team require from school coordinators.
We would like to thank all coordinators who took time out from their busy schedules to meet with the team. We look forward to seeing you all again in April when planning for the next session begins.
